The top two teams leading from our previously in the semester, so it was the Gryffindors versus the Hufflepuff house and then we also had competing for third and fourth place was Slytherin versus Ravenclaw. Gryffindor and Hufflpuff played the first game Gryffindors won, then the second game Hufflpuffs came out on top and we played the third game with Gryffindor pulling it out in the end.

HALF OF THE ORGANIZATION WENT TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND CHEERED ON THEIR HOUSES. ANYONE CAN BE IN THIS ORGANIZATION AND NOT PLAY THE GAME, BUT BE INVOLVED IN THE EVENTS.

<SOUNDBITE AND VIDEO> TYRELL WILLIAMS – QUIDDITCH PLAYER

First off it is the only coed full contact sport, secondly it is growing extremely fast. It really includes anyone from any background to come play. You do not have to be athletic to join.

IN THE FILMS THE PLAYERS FLY ON BROOMSTICKS AND HAVE BALLS THAT MOVE AROUND ON THEIR OWN. STUDENTS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SUBSITUTE MAGIC WITH OUT OF THE BOX IDEAS.

<SOUNDBITE AND VIDEO> LOWELL BUNDICK – QUIDDITCH PLAYER

Cause they have not developed the technology for us to fly on broomsticks, but we still do have the sticks in between our legs, the PVC pipe. There are still all the balls involved the snitch, bludgers and the quafel. It is different because it is a contact sport and we do not have bludgers that fly at their own accord. It is incorporating dodge ball in there as well as rugby.

THIS SPORT PLAYS YEAR AROUND, UNLIKE FOOTBALL OR BASEBALL. QUIDDITCH’S WORLD CUP CAN BE COMPARED TO THE SUPER BOWL. UNIVERSITIES COME FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY TO PLAY. TEXAS STATE IS IN THE TOP 10 TEAMS.

<SOUNDBITE AND VIDEO> RICHARD MCEVOY-KEMP – TEAM CAPTIAN

There are usually tournaments throughout the year leading up to regionals and each region has a certain amount of teams that get qualified for the world cup.
